Understanding The Facts About High Blood Pressure

As an ICU nurse for the past 18 years I have dealt with patients with high blood pressure every day. In an ICU you treat high blood pressure with medications and the patients transfer out of the ICU and hopefully are sent home with their blood pressure under control. In an ICU setting you are not as concerned as life changing events that can help lower the blood pressure, but more concerned on lowering it now!
Recently I was diagnosed with high blood pressure despite eating right, exercising daily, maintaining my weight, and limiting my salt intake. As you will see below there are a few categories that could use improvement like getting more sleep and decreasing alcohol intake.
